Labor Government Launches $100 Million Investment in Grassroots Sport
Tim Richardson MP has today encouraged community organisations in the City of Kingston to consider the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
Applications for Community Sport Infrastructure Fund grants are now open. The $100 million fund includes a significant focus on supporting women in sport, with a $10 million Female Friendly Facilities fund, so that clubs can build or upgrade women’s change rooms.
Women’s participation in community sport is at record numbers and there is significant demand in the City of Kingston for additional facilities, particularly in sports such as netball. It is important that with this increase in participation that women’s change rooms are not rundown, non-existent or second rate.
Other Community Sports Infrastructure Fund initiatives include upgrading cricket grounds and grassroots training facilities as well as building aquatic centres, minor facilities works and planning grants.
It is important that investments are made in our local sporting clubs to maintain modern, safe facilities and to keep up with growing demand. This is why the Community Sport Infrastructure Fund includes $23 million for the completion of community sporting facility projects across Victoria.
Over the coming weeks, Tim Richardson MP will be contacting local sporting organisations to inform them of the grants and to ensure that their future needs are taken into consideration.
